Found In 2004 and launched by security officers in a conference held in the Vereeniging civic theatre. SAPSO is a main security industry leading umbrella body deriving its existence from its own constitution. Its main aims are to uplift the
social security standard of security practitioners and to promote the private security practice profession through coordinated and integrated crime combating security operations, multi skills training, knowledge facilitation and preventing unfair labour treatment of security personnel
while eradicating unfair labour practices within the scope of concluded agreements and operational legislation and not
a workplace Labour relations union mandate.
In its endeavours, it is recognised by security regulator (PSIRA) and acknowledged by the Police ministry.
While its main aim is to uplift the social standard of security practitioners, Sapso attends to the most fundamental social security needs of each security practitioners ensuring sustainability and promotion of inherent human dignity to every practising security officer in South Africa reaching even smaller towns of the country.

PRIVATE SECURITY DEVELOPMENT COOPERATIVE LIMITED
FIGHTING POVERTY THROUGH JUSTICE
To achieve economic empowerment and development for its affiliated security practitioners and promotion of fair labour practices, SAPSO established its investment subsidiary body known as Private Security Development Cooperative Limited (PSDCL) which distributes resources to enable security practitioners to provide their contractual obligations efficiently and effectively.
This body invests its own generated income into diversified business industries mainly Agricultural cooperatives and Power generation industries to create alternative jobs, skills and income for security practitioners.

Over the years SAPSO has to ensure that a medium of information
communication exists as a carrier of integrated academically
researched informative articles, topics, discussions handling
various issues including workplace dishonest & criminal
activities, social and legal discussions with special reference to a
shift in labour law, drugs, child maintenance, shop stewards,
managers and labour relations training is entertained to the benefit
of all workplaces in public and private sector.
This approach is relevant because security service providers are
found in all workplaces and are performing the legal obligation and
permissible mandate of an individual citizen as well as
juristic persons in law.
This magazine is published once every month and relevant to be
utilised from Workplace, Home, In Society, By all persons, All
professions, All Private security practitioners’ as it interacts
with its readers through accepting letters from subscribers and
replies by experts in the field of discussions entertained.
